Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast

Ingredients:

  • 1 jar dried beef slices, rinsed thoroughly and chopped
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 2 cups milk
  • Sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste
  • Toasted bread

Instructions for Making Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast:

  1. Begin by rinsing the dried beef slices thoroughly to remove excess salt, then pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. Chop the beef into small, bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  4. Add the flour and a pinch of cayenne pepper to the melted butter. Whisk until fully blended and cook for about 45 seconds.
  5. Slowly pour in the milk while whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
  6. Once all the milk is added, stir in the chopped dried beef.
  7. Cook the mixture, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.
  8. Taste and season with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper as needed.
  9. Serve immediately over toasted bread.
